BIO

Diane Rickert is a mixed media contemporary painter based in Orland Park, Illinois. Working primarily with coffee filters, coffee, ink, pastel, and wood panels, she is best known for creating richly textured surfaces that balance material depth with a restrained contemporary aesthetic.

Her process starts with something most people throw away: used coffee filters. Their existing stains, creases, and texture become the literal foundation of each piece, layered with coffee, ink, pastel, and acrylics until the surface finds its own balance of strength and softness.

Her current collection, Coffee, Grounds and Me, emerged during a season of real change. The title speaks to the space between what holds us here and what invites us to let go. Through layered coffee filters, coffee, ink, and pastel, the collection explores grounding, release, and the quiet complexity of moving through change. Texture and process become an integral part of the work, creating surfaces that are both tactile and atmospheric.

Diane Rickert is developing a growing body of work that includes her current Coffee, Grounds and Me collection and an emerging series of more expressive abstract paintings. While Coffee, Grounds and Me explores grounding, release, and quiet reflection through layered, atmospheric surfaces, her forthcoming collection moves toward bolder color, energetic mark-making, and greater visual intensity while maintaining a muted, sophisticated palette. Together, these bodies of work reflect Rickert's evolving exploration of texture, materiality, abstraction, and emotional expression.
